Notice the car, bicycle, and wagon in this photo taken on Elm Street. The Woodstock Home Bakery (building on the left) was located in a wooden, Italianate-styled block that burned in the 1970s. The bakery was run for many years by the Wheeler family.

If the young lady in this photo reminds you a bit of Jean Conklin, there’s a reason why. Jean Nelson (Conklin) was her sister.

The roads were rough and everyone carried a spare tire on the back of their car in case one of their tires went flat.
